Judy Chapman founded Garden State Woman, Inc. in 1998 and the Garden State Woman Education Foundation 501(c)3 in 2007. In recognition of the need for women everywhere, including New Jersey, to take firmer control of their futures and their families’ futures - in a world that is still not equally balanced between the opportunities and rewards provided men and women - for equal efforts in many aspects of their personal and professional lives.
Prior to launching Garden State Woman Judy headed for many years , along with her husband, the highly successful Walnut Farm - a thoroughbred horse breeding farm and racing stable. She also was actively involved in the breeding and showing of English Setters.
Judy is a graduate of Berkley School of Secretarial Training (now Berkley College) and Rutgers University with a degree in English, She was recent.ly named alumnae of the year by Berkeley. Judy worked in public relations, volunteer services and development in the non-profit field. While living in England, she worked as Assistant to the Executive Director of The British Computer Society. She has extensive experience in various positions in corporate America..
An important part of her life involves her her son Jonathan, a graduate of Georgetown University working in financial services. A personal goal while raising her son was to have him visit every one of the 50 states. She did this, including Hawaii and driving a Ford pickup truck to Alaska. Her husband, Jack Killion, is a serial entrepreneur and the Managing General Partner of the 10 year old Eagle Rock Diversified Fund.
Judy has served on many boards of women focused organizations in the state and had earned numerous awards for her work on behalf of New Jersey women through Garden State Woman. For a complete list of awards, click here.
