Positano’s Italian Cuisine in a Cozy Westport, CT. Environment Overlooking the Long Island Sound is a Special Place
We had a late Saturday lunch here recently with our good friends of many years Kathryn and Steve Gross. Positano’s is one of their favorite spots for dining. We quickly learned why. It would remind you of a European Inn. The service was impeccable. The atmosphere was sophisticated while still casual. We were there late in the afternoon so it wasn’t crowded but it is easy to imagine it getting very busy at times. We suggest you make a reservation. The view out in the Long Island Sound is awesome.
The wine choices were plenty. Steve ordered for all of us. Some had reds and some had whites. All acknowledged they were great choices.
For appetizers we all split two main dish orders of Cappellini Positano: Clams, calamari, shrimp & scallops, fresh chopped tomatoes, garlic & oil. With their exceptional bread this was a winning starter. We could have had a wide choice of salads.
We all had separate terrific entrees including: Vitello Capricciosa: Breaded scallopini topped with arugula, tomatoes, red onions & fresh mozzarella. Bistecca di Angus a piacere: Angus shell steak grilled or served with peppercorn sauce; Pollo Scarpariello: Pan seared chicken breast, served in a white wine, lemon and garlic sauce with artichokes and their fish of the day dish Salmon in a Mustard sauce.
For dessert four of us split single orders of Strawberries with Grand Marnier and Mixed Berries with Zabaglione.
Positano’s is only a few miles off of Route 95 and is located right on the Long Island Sound. It’s definitely a place to try, particularly for a special occasion with that special someone. For four of us the tab probably came close to $300 with gratuity or maybe a shade more.
